Gianna was aborted by her mother and lived to tell about it. And Jill recounts how her adopted son, Zachary, was unwanted by his drug-addicted mother and nearly killed by doctors at birth.
Gianna Jessen's biological mother was 17 when she had a saline abortion in her third trimester. After being burned alive for approximately 18 hours in the womb from the saline solution, Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. Her medical records state, "born during saline abortion"...this was the cause of her Cerebral Palsy. She was placed into the foster care system early on in life, eventually being taken into the loving home of a woman named Penny. According to Gianna, Penny saved her life. Gianna's indomitable spirit pushed her to become a runner, with more than one marathon under her belt: an amazing feat, considering she was never suppose to walk.
Jill Klopfenstein and her husband, Terry, have adopted 11 children; all were abused or neglected in some way. For each of these children, they provided a home, a last name, a second chance.
