As always, I really enjoy and appreciate your radio broadcast. I have also been direct beneficiary of your outreach when I have contacted you in the past with struggles, concerns, questions... it is so reassuring to know you are "there". My family is going thru some difficult times... I was very surprisingly diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer two years ago, with a not-so-good prognosis. Being able to write to you today is proof that I am beating the odds... so far! Whereas this is attacking my body physically, the bigger concern is the way it is affecting my family. They are all coping quite well... but they are facing the probability that I will not be here much linger, unless God decides He is not done with me yet! I have felt, for quite some time now, that I need to share some real-world things so that others might benefit from what I have, and still am, going thru. My dream has always been to meet and talk with Dr. Dobson... to absorb even an ounce of his wisdom, and to share, with him, some things that are in my heart... for families, for relationships, for personal relationships with God. But, I haven't written a book, so I don't have that as a springboard for conversation. As I was driving to my monthly Oncologist visit yesterday, I listened to your broadcast... and when Dr. Dobson mentioned those who are facing things (and he specifically mentioned cancer), and I heard about how your guest speaker turned tragedy into triumph, I was encouraged to think that maybe, just maybe, I still have a chance to make an impact on this world before He takes me home. So, thank you for that encouragement. The book "When God Doesn't Make Sense" might be a great resource for my family (and for me)... I don't know if I should give it to them when I go... or if I should introduce them to the book ASAP, and go thru it together. Actually, even as I write this, I think the answer is obvious... and so, I will order that book now. I wish I could support the ministry financially, but medical bills are ramping up again due to recent advancements/spreading of the cancer... sorry. Please tell Dr. Dobson, LuAnne, and Ryan, that they are so much appreciated... please, tell them personally, for me... not just another "hey, you have a fan" comment, but a real, personal, thank you from me... tell them that there is a man... a dad, a husband, with four great kids and a wonderful wife... real flesh and bones, and soul... who is very thankful that they are who they are, where they are, and doing what they do!
