California Goes Nuts

Written by Gary Bauer | September 16, 2022
Should minor children be allowed to take life-changing puberty-blocking hormones or receive surgeries to remove healthy organs in an effort to "treat" their gender confusion? Most people would say "no" given the immaturity of a child to make such profound decisions. Gender confusion is usually resolved by early adulthood without such radical "solutions" that can't be reversed.

State legislatures around the country have reacted with alarm at the potential damage, physical and mental, a child could suffer. They have passed laws prohibiting underage children from receiving these aggressive treatments.

Now the state of California has decided that they know better. The state Senate passed a law allowing courts in the state to take custody of out-of-state minors who come to California from other parts of the country seeking gender transitioning hormones and surgeries. The wishes of the minor child's parents would be ignored. If the legislation is signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom, there will be an avalanche of lawsuits questioning whether it is constitutional.

But the real question is how such legislation could even be considered in any state of the union. This is further evidence that our rapid decline as a nation is leading us into moral insanity.
