President Biden Wants Married Couples To Pay A Price

Written by Dr. James Dobson | April 15, 2021

President Biden had promised that families earning up to $400,000 would not be the target of his planned tax hike. But despite those promises, married couples filing income taxes jointly could indeed pay a steeper price than non-married individuals.

As Fox Business reports, last week the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, stated that the tax cut threshold would be $400,000 for individual filers as well. This means that two cohabitating individuals could avoid a tax hike by filing individually, while married couples filing jointly would be hit with a higher tax bill.

Marriage is the fundamental building block of families and, in turn, society. Should government be penalizing married couples? We strongly disagree! As Dr. James Dobson wrote recently, "The very future of this nation rests on the strength of our marriages and families. If our country is to survive and pull itself out of the current mire, we must learn and draw our strength from the cornerstone on which it was built—the family."

It's time for Christians to not only redouble our efforts to build strong marriages, but also to support elected officials who understand the importance of protecting this most sacred institution.
