In 1956, Congress voted unanimously to make "In God We Trust" our national motto. Sadly, over the years since then, God has been kicked out of our classrooms with predicable results. But maybe the tide is turning. Texas children are likely to see the motto in their schools this year. A law passed in 2021 by the Texas legislature, supported and signed by Governor Greg Abbott, is the reason.
The law requires our national motto be prominently displayed, but only if the banner is funded by a private citizen or group and donated to the school. This unusual requirement was to protect the legislation from lawsuits by radical secularists claiming that it subsidizes religion.
If you live in the Lone Star state, don't miss this opportunity. Make sure your school has a privately donated "In God We Trust" banner.
