“Woke Kindergarten” Wants Your Kids

Written by Gary Bauer | February 14, 2024
The American public and members of Congress were justifiably angry when major U.S. universities tolerated and, in some cases, promoted raw anti-Semitism after the Hamas massacre of Israelis on October 7. Likewise, there has been dismay that across the country, pro-Hamas and anti-Israel demonstrations have shut down airports, shopping malls, last Christmas' celebrations, and, at one point, caused an evacuation of staff at the White House. Where are American young people learning to hate Israel, the only functioning democracy in the Middle East and our most reliable ally in the region?

Now comes disturbing evidence that left-wing Marxist indoctrination about not only Israel, but about America too, has even spread to some American elementary schools paid for with your tax dollars.

One particularly egregious example is a program called, believe it or not, "Woke Kindergarten," that is being used in some schools in San Francisco and New York City.

"Woke Kindergarten" uses teaching strategies like "woke wonderings," which asks students to wonder, "If the United States defunded the Israeli military, how could the money be used to rebuild Palestine?" It also features a guide for future leftist demonstrations called, "So you made it to a protest: A sensory guide for kids."

Even the beloved children's tune, "The Wheels on the Bus" has been turned into, "The Wheels on the Tank," a call for Palestinian / Hamas "resistance." Imagine your little tyke coming home proudly singing:

"The wheels on the tanks go round and round, all through the town. The people in the town they hold their ground, and never back down. The bombs in the air go whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, all through the skies. From every river to every sea the people cry, cry, cry. Free Palestine till the wheels on the tanks fall off."

The "Woke Kindergarten" organization is obviously radically left-wing and hates Israel. There are lessons that refer to "Israel as a 'made up place' whose people are "settlers called Zionists who are harming and killing the Palestinian people."

The founder of "Woke Kindergarten" is Akiea Gross who uses "they/them" pronouns. Gross has said the curriculum is an "abolitionist early childhood ecosystem and visionary creative portal supporting little comrades."

Gross has also been embroiled in controversy for promoting a video for kids that pushes the idea, "I feel safe when there are no police," and suggested the word "tree" can be used as a pronoun.

"Woke Kindergarten" sounds like psychological child abuse. Its creators would make Karl Marx proud. The fact that local school officials in heavily left-wing areas want this junk in the classroom is a reminder that America's children are being targeted by powerful forces that despise Judeo-Christian civilization.
