Despite the struggles and hardships each faced, neither felt they were a victim. Today, Dr. Carson is a retired neurosurgeon and political activist, and Barnette is running for a seat in the U.S Senate in the state of Pennsylvania. Both are convinced that America is the greatest nation that ever existed.
