Why Do I Do What I Don’t Want to Do?

In his 20’s, JP Pokluda drove a Jaguar, lived in a high-rise condo, and loved the club scene. By his own admission, he was a materialistic alcoholic who was addicted to sex and pornography. On today’s edition of Family Talk, JP shares how God radically transformed him, calling him to a liberating life of holiness. In his new book entitled Why Do I Do What I Don’t Want to Do? JP invites fellow believers to counter their lust with self-control, their pride with humility, their anger with forgiveness, and their greed with generosity. Heed the call of Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

About Our Guest(s)

JP Pokluda

JP Pokluda is the lead pastor of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He previously served as the leader of The Porch, a ministry which grew to be the largest weekly young adult gathering of its kind in the country. JP didn’t come to understand the grace of the gospel until his early twenties after being involved in several different denominational churches. This ignited a desire in him to inspire young adults to radically follow Jesus Christ, and unleash them to change the world. JP is the author of Welcome to Adulting, Welcoming the Future Church, Outdated, and Why Do I Do What I Don’t Want to Do? He is married to Monica, and they have three children.
