Recently at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, the James Dobson Family Institute presented the inaugural Dr. James C. Dobson Courage in Media Award to Pastor Jack Hibbs. This award honors leaders who boldly proclaim biblical truth and stand firm in their faith despite cultural pressures. During the presentation, Danae Dobson reflected on her father’s legacy of courage — his unwavering commitment to defending life, strengthening families, and speaking truth with conviction even when it was unpopular.
Pastor Hibbs embodies that same boldness. As senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, CA, and a nationally syndicated Bible teacher, he has faithfully proclaimed God’s Word in environments that are often hostile to welcoming biblical truth. During the award presentation, Pastor Hibbs shared that he raised his children on “all things Dobson,” describing Dr. Dobson as a compass for families navigating the challenges of culture and parenting. With humor and admiration, he even joked, “Did families even exist before Dr. Dobson?,” highlighting the profound impact his teaching has had on generations of families.
Dr. Dobson has always taught that faith is not passive. Discipleship requires action, conviction, and courage. As we honor leaders such as Pastor Jack Hibbs who continue to stand boldly for the truth of Scripture, we are reminded that the mission remains urgent. The work of strengthening families, equipping the Church, and proclaiming biblical truth must continue.
