All the way back in the Reagan administration, I worked with Dr. James Dobson to strengthen policies that supported the family. We fought many battles against the militant homosexual rights movement, too. Whenever Dr. Dobson and I would talk about the “gay rights agenda” being pushed on children, we were called “conspiracy theorists.”
“There’s no ‘gay agenda,’” Democrats and left-wing activists would say. “We just want tolerance and to ‘live and let live.’” What a blatant lie that turned out to be! Tolerance quickly became demands for acceptance. Acceptance became demands for celebration. “Live and let live” became “Participate in same-sex marriages or we will ruin you.” It also became: “We get to teach your children about the meaning of love and gay sex.”
Today, you can’t turn on the TV or watch a movie without at least one gay character in the show. Even kids’ shows and cartoons are full of gay and trans characters. Disney, once the gold standard of family-friendly entertainment, went completely woke. Its executives and producers have bragged about pushing gay themes and characters into their children’s shows.1–2
This massive propaganda campaign to normalize homosexuality worked. Gallup periodically asks respondents what percent of the population they thought was gay or lesbian. The public consistently gave an answer way above reality.3
The gay rights movement was on steroids during the Obama-Biden years. When the Supreme Court struck down dozens of state marriage protection amendments in 2015, President Barack Obama ordered the White House to be bathed in the rainbow colors of the LGBTQ pride flag.4
The pro-gay propaganda machine kicked into overdrive during the Biden-Harris years. The Democrats were so determined to push that radical agenda on our children that Biden even threatened to cut off school lunches for low-income students if schools resisted demands to promote transgenderism and allow boys in girls’ bathrooms.5
Biden appointed radical LGBTQ activists such as Rachel Levine, Sam Brinton, and Demetre Daskalakis to top government positions.6-8 He held pride celebrations where transgender activists pranced around topless on the White House lawn.9 Kamala Harris made history when she invited the first drag queen to the vice president’s official residence.10 President Joe Biden even used his State of the Union addresses to promote transgenderism among children.11
With all this propaganda from pop culture to the schools, being “queer” became a ticket to instant affirmation. It was “cool” to be gay, trans, or non-binary—especially among teenage girls. But the social contagion of transgenderism may have run its course. Consider this headline from the Washington Post: “Number of Teens Who Identify Themselves as Gay or Bisexual Is in ‘Free Fall.’”12
The biggest decline in gay identity came among ninth-grade girls. In 2021, 30 percent of high school freshmen girls identified as lesbian or bisexual. In 2025, that figure dropped to 17 percent. In 2021, 26 percent of freshmen girls identified as bisexual. By 2025, that figure had fallen to just 13 percent—a 50 percent drop in four years.13
The CDC report cited by the Washington Post is not the only survey finding a sharp decline in LGBTQ identification among young Americans. The Centre for Heterodox Social Science at the University of Buckingham reviewed several surveys of college students. One survey of multiple colleges found that LGBTQ identification fell from 6.8 percent in 2022 and 2023 to 3.6 percent in 2025.14
Trans and non-binary identification at the elite Phillips Academy Andover just north of Boston fell from 9 percent in 2023 to 3 percent in 2025. In 2022, 5 percent of students at Brown University identified as non-binary. Three years later, only 2.6 percent considered themselves non-binary.15
Researchers and the media appear disappointed by these findings. They are desperately searching for any explanation that does not contradict their left-wing narratives. I have a few ideas as to why this may be happening.
In late 2022, undercover videos exposed how doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center viewed transgender procedures—not as “life-saving care” but as “big money makers.”16 Doctors and nurses there were told to “get on board” or get out. Of course, the greed and corruption exposed in these videos was not unique to Vanderbilt.
That same year, Dr. Erica Anderson, a transgender individual who pioneered teen gender transitions, publicly admitted that transgenderism had become “trendy” and “has gone too far.”17 Dr. Anderson was horrified that teenagers were being put on powerful sterilizing drugs without ever consulting a psychologist.
The first serious scientific pushback to the transgender juggernaut came in early 2024 with the publication of the Cass Report in Great Britain. The extensive report determined that there was no real “science” behind so-called “gender-affirming care.” It found that most trans-identifying children suffered from multiple mental health issues, which often went completely untreated.18 Countries throughout Europe slammed the brakes on these “Frankenstein” procedures, leading many in America to wonder why and to demand answers.19
More and more detransitioners went public with their harrowing stories of pain, suffering, and betrayal at the hands of so-called “trusted medical professionals.”20 Some medical professionals also became whistleblowers against the “money-making” practice of mutilating children.21-22
Immersed in social media, teens “swim” in the popular culture. They know what’s “cool.” The Biden administration was constantly pushing the LGBTQ agenda. Now, we have a president and an administration that is actively fighting against this radical anti-science, anti-common-sense, anti-God agenda.23
In November 2025, the Trump administration released a report finding that “the harms from sex-rejecting procedures—including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical operations—are significant, long-term, and too often ignored or inadequately tracked.”24 In February 2026, following the first successful malpractice lawsuit by a detransitioner,25 the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) issued a statement declaring, “ASPS recommends that surgeons delay gender-related . . . surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old.”26 Days later, the American Medical Association issued a statement saying that “surgical interventions in minors should be generally deferred to adulthood.”27
Perhaps today’s teens realize that being LGBTQ is no longer such a cool thing.
Transgenderism is a lie straight from the pits of hell that says we can be God by undoing His creation. At JDFI, we will continue to proclaim the truth of biological science and natural law. We pray that the scales will fall from the eyes of those who were deceived by the doctors they trusted.
