August 18, 2020 — “On Thursday, President Trump announced that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates had agreed to finalize a historic peace agreement.

“This is the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab country in more than 25 years and only the third such treaty overall. Pursuant to the agreement, Israel and the United Arab Emirates will now have full diplomatic relations, including the exchange of embassies and ambassadors, as well as cooperation on issues including tourism, education, health care, trade and security.

“Peace in the Middle East has been a goal for as long as I can remember. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described this treaty as a ‘significant step forward.’ I agree with him!

“We should all celebrate this agreement and pray that it will lead to further diplomatic progress between Israel and other nations in the Middle East.”
