Even as our national heritage and identity face consistent attacks from the radical Left, some states are fighting back and standing up for what is right. Not surprisingly, Texas is one of them.

The lone-star state has passed a bill, signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott, creating an “1836 Project” that is designed to teach “values considered fundamental to state identity,” and to promote “patriotic education.”

Gov. Abbott signed and applauded the law, saying, “We must never forget why Texas became so exceptional in the first place.”

It is expected that the project will cover topics including “the indigenous peoples of this state, the Spanish and Mexican heritage of this state, Tejanos, the African American heritage of this state, the Texas War for Independence, Juneteenth, annexation of Texas by the United States, the Christian heritage of this state, and this state’s heritage of keeping and bearing firearms in defense of life and liberty and for use in hunting.”

This is a welcome change compared to the identity-based Marxism sweeping the country. Perhaps it’s time for other states to follow Texas’ lead. Ask your representatives if they are up to the task!
