Because so much is affecting your faith, family, and freedom, we are sharing our thoughts with you on three vital issues.
Give Peace a Chance
President Trump has announced an interim peace agreement with Iran. Vice President Vance is scheduled to travel to Geneva, Switzerland, to sign the accord on Friday. The accord halts military action and opens the Strait of Hormuz.
As a result, oil prices immediately dropped, and gasoline prices are dropping, too, providing relief to consumers. Over the next sixty days, negotiations are scheduled to address unresolved issues.
Here at the JDFI, we commend the Administration for relentlessly working to ensure that the American people will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed, radical Islamist Iran. While there will likely be setbacks in the weeks ahead, we join all Americans in praying for peace and for an end to the Iranian nuclear threat.
Save the Babies
YouTube influencer Jesse Ridgway continues to make news. As I reported last week, he and his wife chose to abort their baby after a test showed the child might have Down syndrome. Ridgeway has faced quite a “backlash,” which is actually encouraging because it suggests that the American people are more pro-life than some think.
Well now, Mr. Ridgway has provided us with more information about his “worldview.” Reflecting on how many of his critics quoted the Bible or stated that each of us has been made in the image of God, Ridgway said,
“I’m not religious. I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe in the Bible. Like, I haven’t since I was 8 years old, and then I learned science and I was like, ‘Oh, that makes more sense.’”1
I am not surprised that he rejects God. But his understanding of science is no deeper than his understanding of Christianity. Yes, the Bible says we are “fearfully and wonderfully” knitted in the womb. But biology, too, recognizes that human life begins at the moment of conception. Unfortunately, Jesse Ridgway’s ignorance of both the Bible and science has resulted in the death of a baby he deemed to be less than perfect. He is putting every such child in more danger—and that is tragic.
Reclaim June
Well, we are halfway through so-called “Pride Month,” but it is not nearly as bad as it has been in the past. Maybe we have turned a corner. The James Dobson Family Institute thanks President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance for making it absolutely clear that the only pride they are celebrating this June and throughout this 250th anniversary year is pride in our country as one nation under God.
To begin the month, the White House hosted an event which supported our military, promoted love of country, and gave many athletes the opportunity to express their Christian faith. We didn’t have to watch far-left homosexual radicals dancing around the White House lawn, half-naked, with gay pride flags flying everywhere as we did under the previous administration.
Nonetheless, the James Dobson Family Institute warns parents and grandparents: You can’t completely relax. The Left is still trying to indoctrinate our children with radical gender theories, and every year, the children targeted by the LGBTQ movement are younger and younger. The battles rage on as the Left continues its war on normalcy.
In New York, left-wing politicians just voted to ban the words “mother” and “father” from state documents. “Mother” is now “gestating parent,” and “father” is “non-gestating parent.” So, to all the dads we will celebrate this Sunday, “Happy Non-Gestating Parent Day.”
This is what happens when one political party cannot define what a woman is, thinks girls and boys can be born into the wrong bodies, and believes men can get pregnant. Sadly, one of America’s great political parties is still 1,000 percent behind the radical LGBTQ agenda.
Christians should reject being forced to celebrate gay pride in our schools, our workplaces, and our churches, of all places. Instead, we should reclaim June and the rainbow.
Here is some encouraging news. Some Republican governors have issued proclamations recognizing June as either “Nuclear Family Month” or “Strong Families Month.” Others chose “Fidelity Month”—recognizing our fidelity to God, our spouses, our families, and our country.
JDFI applauds these proclamations. They are great ideas that draw clear contrasts between conservative Christian elected officials and the increasingly radical socialist forces whose numbers continue to grow in direct opposition to biblical values. These leaders are reminding Americans that strong families, enduring faith, and love of country remain ideals worth celebrating and defending.
