Here’s some good news. A new study has found that the percentage of young Americans who believe they are transgender has dropped sharply. It has declined 50 percent in just two years. This is a significant victory.
The Dr. James Dobson Family Institute opposed the transgender deception from the very beginning, and we were not alone. Brave individuals, such as former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, stood up against the poisonous ideology that has harmed so many children. She has said she joined the battle because God laid it on her heart to do so. Riley regularly faced violence and threats on US university campuses, but her faith gave her courage to persevere.
Others also deserve our thanks. J.K. Rowling, a political liberal and the author of the Harry Potter books, pushed back against trans ideology. She withstood a barrage of hate and efforts to “cancel” her. She did not back down. Conservative commentators such as Matt Walsh also worked tirelessly to expose and defeat the sick trans ideology aimed at our children.
While the economy and border security were top matters, the transgender issue also played a significant role in the 2024 presidential election. Candidate Trump made clear that he would take federal action if necessary to keep men and boys out of women’s and girls’ bathrooms and women’s sports. Once elected, he acted swiftly to fulfill his pledge.
On February 5, 2025, he held an Oval Office ceremony where, surrounded by beaming little girls, he signed the “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order.1 The visual was priceless. Normalcy was back!
The White House continues to confront the problem. Currently, they are suing two states, Maine and Oregon, that refuse to follow new Title IX regulations that protect female athletes from men invading their sports.
The polling on the trans issue has shifted too. We have been winning the debate. In the beginning, it was difficult for the general public to even understand what exactly was being argued. If a pollster asked, “Do you think it is fair to ban a trans girl from participation in sports?” many people said, “No, that isn’t fair.” It took awhile for the public to understand the truth that a “trans girl” is actually a boy claiming to be a girl.
The aggressiveness of the transgender movement and its political allies also worked in our favor. People were told they had to use false pronouns for trans individuals or face penalties. Parents were told they had no right to interfere in the recruiting of their children to the trans insanity in public schools. Progressive educators told them that even their elementary school kids could not opt out of graphic sexual information.
Once the public was told that men can get pregnant and there are fifty-four genders, the backlash began in earnest. The transgender cause wasn’t helped when Governor Walz of Minnesota, the vice-presidential candidate running with Kamala Harris, showed how “progressive” he was by putting tampons in boys’ bathrooms in public schools. (Boys ripped them down in many cases.)
Reading that last sentence without laughing is hard, but this issue is no laughing matter. Trans ideology and social contagion convinced thousands of American children to mutilate their bodies with powerful chemicals and deforming surgeries. Many have been permanently harmed.
A courageous young woman, Chloe Cole, who was seduced by this twisted ideology and convinced to have radical surgeries, has publicly exposed the deception.2 She is now trying to recover a normal life.
The Battle Isn’t Over!
As conservative pro-family Christians, we should take heart for slowing down and even reversing some of the trans juggernaut. But the battle on this issue and others will not be won in one election or even multiple elections. The culture battle counts too.
The secular globalist Left is very anti-Christian. It rejects the philosophical foundation of Judeo-Christian civilization. Yet, they maintain a dominance in the media, culture, Hollywood, and academia. Even sports are made to bow at the Left’s altar. How else can we explain the NFL picking Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl Halftime entertainment? He is anti-American and dresses in drag. The late Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA has announced its own family-friendly halftime alternative. Christians must boldly stand up in all those institutions to defend faith, family, and freedom.
In 2023, GLAAD, an LGBTQ lobbying group, won the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences coveted Governors Award. The president of the group used her acceptance speech to demand more transgender characters on television. The entertainment industry immediately complied.
Netflix has been singled out for its aggressive pushing of trans themes, even in children’s entertainment. There are growing calls for a consumer boycott.
Reverend Franklin Graham is joining the effort to boycott Netflix.
Quoting Breitbart News, Graham wrote on social media, “‘Netflix has been struggling as it chooses to stream animated programs that expose small children to homosexuality, gay kisses, and a little boy in a dress prancing around for his gay dads.’ Their membership started to slide last month after one of their cartoon creator’s smeared Charlie Kirk following his murder . . . This type of content is pushing an ungodly and dangerous agenda on our children and grandchildren. Say No!”3
Franklin Graham is right! In short, Christians can and must be engaged. We are winning, but much remains to be done. No major challenge facing America can be solved without the active involvement of the followers of Jesus Christ. JDFI will stand with you.
