Protecting Your Middle Schooler During Those Turbulent Years

Middle school has never been easy, but today’s culture pushes kids out of childhood faster than ever. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson explores this pivotal season with the late Dr. Brenda Hunter and her daughter, Kristen Blair, authors of From Santa to Sexting. They discuss cyberbullying, media saturation, and how parents can rebuild the walls to protect their children.

Dr. Brenda Hunter was a psychologist and internationally published author. She earned her Ph.D. in psychology from Georgetown University, and worked as a therapist in private practice in Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina. She wrote or co-wrote 14 books, including The Power of Mother Love, In the Company of Women, and From Santa to Sexting, co-authored with her daughter, Kristen Blair. Dr. Hunter was a specialist in infant attachment, and was nationally recognized as an expert on the issue of full-time mothering. She went home to be with the Lord in 2017.

Kristen Blair is an education columnist and writer. She currently serves as the communications director of the North Carolina Coalition for Charter Schools. Kristen has worked on family and educational policy at the national level for the federal government, a presidential commission, and Empower America. She and her family reside in North Carolina.
