Dr. James Dobson Praises Trump Administration’s Proposed Regulation Change to Title X Family Planning Federal Grant Program

I wholeheartedly commend the Trump Administration for finally putting real teeth behind the Hyde Amendment.
– James Dobson, Ph.D.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. May 18, 2018.
— Dr. James Dobson issues the following statement:

“I wholeheartedly commend the Trump Administration for finally putting teeth behind the Hyde Amendment. Much like the regulations that President Reagan put into place in the 80s, this proposed change mandates that Title X federal funding grant recipients, such as Planned Parenthood, must not perform abortions in the same building where they provide family planning services supported by Title X. The Reagan era mandates were upheld by the Supreme Court in Rust v. Sullivan but tragically rolled back under Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama.

In March, many establishment Republicans in the House of Representatives formed an unholy alliance with congressional Democrats to pass the Omnibus spending bill, which included among other misguided budget provisions, half a billion dollars of funding for the country’s number one abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. With the proposed changes from the White House, any grantees that want to continue defying the Hyde Amendment—which is supposed to prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars from being used to perform abortions—must now choose to either continue receiving taxpayer funds and stop providing abortions in that building, or continue on with private funds only.

Those of us who stand on the side of life praise God today for a genuine victory in our fight to defend the unborn, and we continue to set our sights and prayers on finally, one day soon, overturning Roe v. Wade.”
