Comic book publisher DC Comics recently announced that an upcoming issue of Superman would reveal the superhero’s son to be bisexual.
This isn’t the first character to be transformed into a “woke” hero, but it may be the most significant. Writer Tom Taylor said, “Superman’s symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics.”
How should parents respond?
First, understand that the media is not on your side when it comes to instilling a biblical worldview in your children. The radical Left is determined to remake America and is working feverishly to convince (or force) your kids to adopt a radical new “orthodoxy” when it comes to human sexuality. You must combat those efforts by monitoring what your children consume, and then counter the lies with biblical truth. Prominent Christian researcher George Barna has some tips for how you can effectively undertake this charge.
Second, drop to your knees and pray. Our children are facing a fight that exceeds anything we encountered in our youth. As Dr. James Dobson wrote, “There is a fierce battle being waged now in our nation’s classrooms for the hearts and souls of our children and grandchildren. Make no mistake, the Left and the secular culture are manipulating the minds of your sons and daughters every day of the year.”
The radical Left is powerful. But the God we serve is all-powerful. Commit your task to Him, and ask that He supply the strength and wisdom to carry it out!
