The raucous crowd in the San Francisco auditorium was ready for a celebration of hate. The scheduled speaker bounded onto the stage wearing his signature Mao suit, named after the infamous communist Chinese mass murderer Mao Zedong. He and the crowd then burst into song as lyrics were projected onto a screen in the room.
The song was written in remembrance of assassinated Christian conservative leader Charlie Kirk. But they weren’t singing to honor Kirk. They sang to mock him and celebrate that he had been murdered on a university campus on September 10, 2025. The lyrics are:
He stood unshaken, a voice in the storm.
A man of conviction, a heart reborn.
He spoke the truth when the cost was high.
He lived for Jesus, unafraid to die.
We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame.
We’ll fight for the Gospel, we’ll honor his name.
We are Charlie Kirk, his courage, our own.
Together unbroken, we’ll make Heaven known.1
The crowd, following their leader, took out their lit cell phones and swayed back and forth as they sang in parody.2 They were symbolically spitting on Charlie Kirk’s grave. Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley remarked, “What is shocking is not the utter depravity and cruelty of Piker, but the ecstasy of the crowd in relishing the death of someone with opposing views.”3 Turley is referring to Hasan Piker, a first-class demagogue.
It would be tempting to ignore this kind of vile hatred, this evil celebration of death. But as Christians, we can never turn a blind eye to those things. This wasn’t a typical hate fest that fringe radicals engage in. Hasan Piker is a man of growing power and influence in the United States of America and around the world.
He has a podcast with more than three million followers. He is the embodiment of a poisonous Red/Green alliance emerging in America and across the globe. Red for Marxism and socialism. Green for the color of radical Islam. Piker hates Jews and Christians.
Individuals who talk for a living will occasionally use poorly chosen words, or let their emotions get the better of them. It happens to the best of us. But that’s not what happens to Hasan Piker. His “mistakes” are when he sounds normal and decent. His “product” is a steady stream of hatred and bile. This is a man who wants Israel to be destroyed and wants America to be transformed into an Islamist/Marxist society.
Multiple current members of Congress on the political Left have eagerly been guests on Piker’s podcast. No matter how much he spreads hate, these politicians still yearn to reach his audience. Some lifelong Democrats are calling for the leadership of their party to renounce Piker, who once said America deserved the terrorist attack on 9/11.4 But rising stars in the Democrat Party, such as Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA), said doing so would be a sign of weakness.5 Actually, it would be a sign of basic decency.
Piker’s profile increased recently when Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, the current Democrat nominee to be the next senator from Michigan, invited Piker to campaign with him. The night before the primary election, Piker attended a pool party with El-Sayed in Detroit. El-Sayed refuses to denounce Piker for any of his steady stream of hatred and divisiveness.
This is not an unusual alliance. El-Sayed proudly says he is a socialist and says his life is directed by Sharia law. El-Sayed was interviewed on a podcast that JDFI supporters might recognize called “I’ve Had It.” The podcast is hosted by two far-left women, who spend a good bit of their time attacking Christianity and parents who put their children in Christian schools or choose options like homeschooling. But El-Sayed wasn’t on the show to attack Christians. He’s hoping to confuse some Michigan Christians to vote for him in November. He claimed that the gospel of Jesus Christ is essentially the same as socialism.
El-Sayed said that Christ wants us to feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, care for the sick, and protect the widow, and that is what socialism supports, too. I hope you can see through the lie in this argument. Christ urged His followers, the emerging Church, to care for the needy. Never in His gospel did Christ say that big government, using the force of law, should take the possessions of one group of people and give them to another group of people the government decides is more worthy. That is socialism and Marxism. Socialism doesn’t lead to heaven on earth. It leads to suffering and a loss of freedom.
Back to Hasan Piker. A video clip from a debate between Charlie Kirk and Hasan Piker went viral recently. In the clip, Kirk exposes Piker for the fraud that he is—a millionaire from a rich family living in a multimillion-dollar home while preaching socialism. Piker was clearly caught off guard. I suspect that is why Piker chose this weekend to ridicule the memory of Charlie Kirk, who was a close friend of the James Dobson Family Institute and someone Dr. Dobson and I both encouraged and were encouraged by.
What irony that on our 250th birthday as a nation, we are now facing a growing threat from the Marxist/Islamist alliance. There are multiple nations around the world built on radical Islam and/or Marxism, and they are not places America should try to copy. They are cesspools of persecution, discrimination, and suffering.
Recent events should convict us to shake off our lethargy and utilize the rights that one generation after another has sacrificed to preserve. In a couple of months, we must turn out by the millions to vote in defense of faith, family, and freedom and reject the Islamist Marxist haters who are gaining strength in our country.
