The raucous crowd in the San Francisco auditorium was ready for a celebration of hate. The scheduled speaker bounded onto the stage wearing his signature Mao suit, named after the infamous communist Chinese mass murderer Mao Zedong. He and the crowd then burst into song as lyrics were projected onto a screen in the room. The song was written in remembrance of assassinated Christian conservative leader Charlie Kirk. But they weren’t singing to honor Kirk. They sang to mock him and celebrate that he had been murdered on a university campus on September 10, 2025.
