Religious liberty and strong families prosper in free nations. But many forces are at work to undermine liberty. Every year the global secular elites meet in Davos, Switzerland, at the World Economic Forum (WEF), to map out the future of mankind. Most Americans are too busy to pay much attention to this confab of socialists, corporate titans, world government advocates, and tech mavens.
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer shares his skepticism concerning the constant barrage of bigoted alarmism flowing from the mainstream media about the dangerous march of “Christian Nationalists” in America. What concerns these alarmists the most are citizens who profess love for Jesus, love their country, and believe that Almighty God had His divine hand on the founding of the nation. According to the intelligentsia, folks who hold to this view are deluded and pose a clear and present danger to democracy, and thus must not be tolerated by civil society. Bauer says the real danger to our republic is screeching neo-Marxist totalitarians who defame followers of Christ.
In this week's episode, Gary Bauer shares little-known details from NASA’s Apollo 8 mission that took its three astronaut crew 10 orbits around the moon over six days. Although Crew Commander, Frank Borman, Lunar Module Pilot, Fred W. Haise Jr., and Command Module Pilot, Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., accomplished all mission objectives, they are perhaps best remembered for their first-of-its-kind Christmas Eve telecast from outer space. The crew read verses from the first chapter of Genesis and then wished viewers, “Good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas and God bless all of you—all of you on the good Earth.” As there is nothing new under the sun, this event, which was beloved by the vast majority of Americans, infuriated the late Atheist and Separationist, Madalyn Murray O’Hair so much that she sued NASA administrator Thomas Paine and the U.S. government, arguing that the astronauts violated the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause. To quote a famous repetitive refrain from the late author Kurt Vonnegut’s book Slaughterhouse-Five seems apropos: “And so it goes…”
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom, Gary Bauer discusses the specific threats brought about by war and rumors of war, and the vast political and cultural divide. He stresses that, along with these grave concerns, as Christians we have hope. The New Year brings with it exciting opportunities to change the trajectory of America through our constitutional election process. But we cannot stand idly by thinking our neighbors will do the heaving lifting for us. God forbid! Christians must engage. Bauer says he was encouraged by a late 2023 poll that showed a strong majority of Americans plan to take their faith more seriously in 2024. If we all hold to this resolution, America’s outlook for this year will be bright.
In this week's episode, Gary Bauer contrasts President Joe and Jill Biden’s holiday greeting to that of former President Donald Trump. Here is a portion of the former President’s text from his video message released to social media on Christmas Eve: “In this holy time of year, Christians everywhere give thanks that over 2,000 years ago, God sent his only son into the world to be the savior of all mankind. The birth of Jesus Christ is the true miracle we celebrate each Christmas. He is the ultimate source of our joy, our hope, and our sense of peace, and goodwill as we gather with family and loved ones. It is such a great time of the year. This is why we can never stop saying that beautiful phrase, 'Merry Christmas.’”
There was a victory for religious liberty in the state of Virginia on December 13, 2023. Admittedly, the decision by the Virginia Supreme Court was a procedural one, but it is significant nonetheless.
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, Bauer calls out a grossly overofficious Pennsylvania school board who believes they are the arbiters of what can and cannot be seen by kids riding on school buses, as it relates to high national holidays. Bauer goes on to “school” this rogue group of neo-Marxists on the historical and true meaning of Christmas.
Virtually every week there is a new attack on Christians who love Jesus and love America. Left-wing commentators and politicians have come up with an odd name for these folks. We are now labeled "Christian nationalists." Sounds scary! But, in fact, from the American founding throughout most of our history, most Americans were Bible-believing Christians who loved America. God help us if this is now considered dangerous.
In this week's episode, Gary Bauer exposes the Left's attempt to brand Americans who love both Jesus and their country as ‘Christian Nationalists.’ In homage to 1930 Fascism, the left has uncorked a full-scale propaganda campaign, spearheaded by Hollywood film director, Rob Reiner who will release his new documentary God and Country, in February just in time for the 2024 election. ‘Christian Nationalism’ is the left’s latest boogeyman of the day. Meathead, the character played by Reiner in the 70s sitcom All in the Family, hopes the film will fool enough Americans into believing the Nazis are back and controlling the Republican Party to reelect President Joe Biden, whose low poll numbers have the Democratic Party seriously spooked.
