Communism Winning In America?

Dr. Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon and former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has delivered a sobering warning about communism in America.

Speaking at the Pray Vote Stand Summit in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the Family Research Council, Carson quoted from a 1963 book, The Naked Communist, that listed Communist goals in our country. Among them were:

• Capture one or both political parties
• Get control of the schools and use them to advance socialist and communist propaganda
• Put the communist worldview in school textbooks
• Infiltrate the media, TV and Hollywood
• Discredit the family as an institution
• Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce
• Undermine parental rights over the education of children

Carson rhetorically asked the audience, "Does any of that stuff sound familiar?" Sadly, it sounds like a perfect description of what is happening in America today.

Carson reminded the audience, as we have said time and time again, that our country was built on Judeo-Christian ideas, including the core belief that our rights come from the God of the Bible — not from government. Dr. Carson urged Americans to be courageous and oppose the growing Marxist/Socialist movement in our country. We strongly agree!

By the way, the Family Research Council was celebrating its 40th anniversary at the conference. The organization was started in 1983 by none other than our Dr. James Dobson, who wanted an office in Washington, D.C. to defend faith, family, and freedom. I was fortunate to serve as its president from 1989 to 1999. The conference also featured a video interview with Dr. Dobson that was warmly received by the attendees.
