America just observed Memorial Day 2026. Every Memorial Day is poignant, meaningful, a time of remembrance, and, hopefully, gratitude. This year’s observance seemed even more so as America celebrates its 250th birthday. But even before we were a nation, our heroes fought and died for our freedom.
On Sunday, my wife, Carol, and I were blessed to represent JDFI and join well over 100,000 Americans on the National Mall for Rededicate 250—a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving. This special day was declared by President Trump in remembrance of the first such day in America on May 17, 1776.
Americans overwhelmingly desire racial reconciliation in our country. As Christians, we can help reach that goal by reminding ourselves and others that skin color is the least important characteristic of human beings. We are all made in the image of God. Our heart and soul are what matters. Our character, not our race, should define us.
We must not forget America’s heritage. This nation was birthed in prayer and founded on the God of the Bible—on His biblical principles and His moral values. Unfortunately, many have turned their backs on their Creator, and we are reaping the consequences.
Our government issues studies and reports all the time. Many of them are not really important and do not have a long shelf life. But last week, an earth-shattering report was issued showing anti-Christian bias in our federal government.
Once again, America has been forced by events to ponder what beast is prowling the land. We just witnessed the third assassination attempt on President Trump. An attempted assassination of a president is an attack on America itself.

Beginning April 18, 2026, an extraordinary event will happen in the nation’s capital. Nearly 500 Christian leaders from all walks of life will read the entire Bible out loud for twelve hours a day over the course of seven days. This event, America Reads the Bible, is appropriately taking place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. The very existence of the museum in the nation’s capital, a city built on a quest for temporal power, is in itself a miracle. It is evidence of God’s continued hand on America.
This year, on Good Friday, we received the news that two US airmen had ejected from their fighter jet after they were hit by enemy fire over Iran. In the hours that followed, and in the midst of celebrating Easter, millions of Americans prayed for those men and their families. Fortunately, the pilot was quickly rescued. The weapons officer, however, was trapped behind enemy lines—an enemy not known for mercy.
Over the years, one of the most frequent questions posed to me by Christians is whether I think President Trump has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. I have been honored to pray with the president many times, and I have reached my own conclusion.
