The First 100 Days
On April 29, the Trump-Vance administration marked the first 100 days of President Trump’s second term. Here is our analysis of what they have promoted, proposed, or implemented regarding some of JDFI’s “Critical Issue” areas.
The Next Generation
A fierce battle has been raging for years in our nation’s classrooms for the hearts and souls of our children and grandchildren. The Trump administration is aggressively trying to limit the power of federal education officials in Washington, DC, as well as left-wing teacher unions, and restore power to parents and local communities.
- President Trump has directed the secretary of education to shrink the department’s bureaucracy.
- The administration has sent legislation to Congress to abolish the department while preserving key programs, including aid to special needs children and federal grant and loan programs for higher education. Funds saved will be sent directly to local school districts.
- The White House is promoting a number of initiatives to increase school choice and parental rights.
- President Trump issued an order reestablishing the 1776 Commission to promote teaching real American history in our schools.
The Sanctity of Human Life
All life is sacred and a gift from Almighty God. Sadly, however, many people in our society no longer understand or acknowledge the sanctity of human life. The Biden-Harris administration promoted abortion without any restrictions. The current administration took these actions in its first 100 days:
- President Trump and Vice President Vance spoke to the March for Life, proudly making the case for saving preborn children.
- They reinstated the Mexico City Policy, banning federal funding to groups that promote abortion overseas.
- They ended US financing of the UN Population Fund, which promotes abortion.
- President Trump cut funding to Planned Parenthood and is working to eliminate all such support.
- They shut down a Biden-Harris government website promoting abortion.
- They support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which provides medical care to babies who survive abortions (passed the House; blocked by Senate Democrats).
- President Trump pardoned peaceful pro-life activists imprisoned by the Biden administration.
- The president has appointed pro-life conservatives to key positions.
Marriage and Family
Marriage serves as the foundation for every dimension of human life. Everything of value rests on marriage, including procreation and the care and training of children.
- At the March for Life, Vice President Vance strongly encouraged young Americans to get married, start families, and raise good children.
- The Trump administration supports policies to help families, including increasing the per-child tax credit, and has embraced the idea of a $5,000 “baby bonus.”
- President Trump issued an order recognizing only two genders: male and female.
- He issued an order protecting girls’ and women’s sports from boys and men pretending to be females.
- He issued an order banning federal funding for transgender medical procedures on children.
- He is securing our borders—making our streets, schools, and communities safer for all American families.
Religious Liberty
On religious liberty, the Trump administration has taken these steps:
- The president issued an order establishing the White House Faith Office and creating a task force to eliminate anti-Christian bias in the federal government.
- He issued an order to protect free speech and end government censorship.
- He held an Easter service in the White House.
- He issued a Holy Week proclamation declaring the good news of Jesus Christ.
- He appointed strong defenders of religious liberty to key positions.
- Vice President Vance urged our European allies to defend free speech and religious liberty, which are currently being eroded.
The Nation of Israel
The Jews are God’s chosen people, and Israel is a covenant land given to the Jews by Jehovah as an everlasting possession.
- The Trump administration is a strong supporter of Israel, and President Trump is a close friend of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
- The president nominated former Gov. Mike Huckabee, a committed Christian and staunch supporter of Israel, as the US ambassador to that country.
- He lifted Biden’s weapons embargo against Israel.
- The administration is supporting Israel in its war against Hamas and Hezbollah.
- President Trump reimposed his “maximum pressure” sanctions on Iran (severely limiting Iran’s ability to fund its terrorist proxies) and is vowing to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
- The administration is confronting rampant antisemitism on our college campuses and revoking student visas of pro-Hamas sympathizers.
- President Trump withdrew the United States from the UN Human Rights Council, blocked funding for UNRWA, and imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (all anti-Israel organizations).
This record marks an extraordinary “First Hundred Days.” JDFI is pleased to have regular opportunities to interact with the Trump-Vance administration. We will continue encouraging them to defend faith, family, and freedom.
