SCOTUS Leak that Roe Could be Overturned Rocks Nation

Late yesterday, Politico broke the shocking news that a leaked opinion by Justice Samuel Alito reveals the Supreme Court of the United States has tentatively voted to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. The leak stems from the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which centers on a Mississippi law prohibiting abortions past 15 weeks.

In the leaked 67-page draft opinion, Justice Alito wrote, “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” and “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.” Carrie Severino, President of the Judicial Crisis Network, referred to Justice Alito’s opinion as “thoughtful, scholarly, and thorough. It does the work that the majority in Roe and Casey refused to do, looking to the Constitution itself to determine whether it includes a right to an abortion. The opinion concludes it does not.”

The result of more than five decades of concerted efforts by the pro-life movement, the overturning of Roe could be amazing news to celebrate. But before we rejoice, we must wait for the Supreme Court to release its official opinion.

We need to also be praying for our Supreme Court Justices–that their final decision will not be swayed by the President or the abusive attacks of the Left. We join the people of our nation in condemning this appalling breach of the Court’s confidentiality. It is a direct attempt to undermine the rule of law, as well as to coerce the highest court in our country.

Finally, we ask that you join us in fervent prayer that the Supreme Court will, in fact, overturn Roe and that the American people will fight state by state to put an end to abortion once and for all.
