Dream Big Again

JDFI congratulates President-elect Donald J. Trump on his remarkable comeback victory last night. He not only won an Electoral College majority but appears to have won the popular vote as well.

· Trump effectively put together a multi-racial, multi-ethnic coalition that rejects the racial identity politics that has been used by the neo-Marxist left to divide our country.

· President-elect Trump reiterated last night that he believes God saved him from the assassin’s bullet because He has something He wants Trump to do. The president-elect believes God wants him to unite the country, heal our divisions, and restore the American dream. To do that, Christians must continue to engage the culture and the public square.

· Over the next four years, the freedom of speech and religion will be strengthened rather than undermined. Parental rights will be defended, and the U.S./Israel alliance will be strengthened.

We thank every Christian citizen who voted. Without your participation, the country would be in a very different situation this morning. JDFI is also pleased President Trump will work with a friendly Senate next year. Let’s pray that conservative policies will proliferate.

But the news is not all good.

While the presidential candidate who built her entire campaign on being pro-abortion lost, pro-abortion referenda won in seven states. Pro-life forces prevailed in three states but only narrowly in two. We have much more work to do before all children are welcomed into the world and protected under the law as part of the American family.

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

(Katharine Lee Bates, “America the Beautiful”)
