Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie
The late Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie (September 2, 1930 – June 5, 2019) began his ministry in Winnetka, Illinois, where he developed a deep appreciation for the impact of leaders on society and their need for sensitive pastoral care. He was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and then served for 23 years as pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. In addition to pastoring, Dr. Ogilvie had a nationally syndicated radio and television ministry called Let God Love You. In 1995, he was elected the 61st chaplain of the United States Senate. Dr. Ogilvie was a frequent speaker at events across the nation, authored over 50 books, and was recognized as one of the most effective preachers in the English-speaking world. He founded Fuller Seminary’s Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching. Dr. Ogilvie passed away in 2019 and was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Mary Jane, who died in April 2003. He is survived by his second wife, Doris, his three children, Heather, Scott, and Andrew, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
