How do we make sense out of evil, and how should Christians respond to it?
Dr. James Dobson and I, as well as the whole team at JDFI, are committed to Faith, Family, and Freedom. Like millions of Americans, we are heartbroken that so many people in our country today don't put the same emphasis on those values, particularly when it comes to love for our country. As we are all aware, our schools in many parts of the country, from elementary schools to universities, are often teaching anti-American history.
A fresh cut floral arrangement is symbolic of America. Severed from our historical Christian roots at the hands of a hostile culture, we are dying as a nation. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and Eric Metaxas continue to discuss the state of our country and Eric’s book, If You Can Keep It: The Forgotten Promise of American Liberty. Dr. Dobson and Metaxas remind us of the importance of American liberty, and what we can do as a nation to save it. Without cultivating the knowledge of our country's history, we cannot hope to shape its future.
As Americans, we are blessed to enjoy the fruits of our freedom, born out of the hardship of generations past. But we need to be aware of something very important: liberty is fragile. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and Eric Metaxas discuss Eric’s book, If You Can Keep It: The Forgotten Promise of American Liberty. Metaxas points to author and social critic Os Guinness’ notion of the “golden triangle of freedom,” which states that freedom requires virtue, virtue requires faith, and faith requires freedom. Sadly, we have forgotten America’s precious history, and are thus in danger of losing our republic.
As you prepare to celebrate the 246th anniversary of America’s independence on July 4th, will it just be a day off to eat hot dogs and enjoy fireworks? We hope not! On today’s special pre-Independence Day edition of Family Talk, David Barton, founder of Wallbuilders, takes a look at our country’s biblical foundations. For example, in May, 1778, General George Washington told his 11,000 soldiers positioned at Valley Forge in the midst of the Revolutionary War that, “To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”
Some who voted for Joe Biden and other Democrats in the last presidential election expressed concerns about Donald Trump's tone, particularly on social media.

Our founding fathers knew that for America to thrive, its people would need to rely on God. Listen as the late Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie delivers a powerful message on this topic at the 2016 National Day of Prayer. He points to prominent leaders in our nation's history who made worshiping God a priority, and recognizes Shirley Dobson's 25 years of service as chair of the National Day of Prayer.
Is there is a way to curb federal overreach and return power back to the American people? Dr. Dobson continues his discussion about the Convention of States project with former Senator Tom Coburn. They highlight the key issues this movement could solve, and share their concerns about the rise of socialism in America.
In recent years, the U.S. government has passed more progressive laws and continued to spend frivolously. Dr. Dobson talks about a real solution to these growing issues with former Senator Tom Coburn. He addresses the fiscal irresponsibility of Washington, and why a Convention of States needs to be called.
