Christian Charity Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Protect Its Freedom of Religion

A Christian nonprofit that considered biblical doctrine with regard to its hiring decisions is now in hot water.

The Washington Supreme Court ruled against the charity, which is now asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its case and uphold its religious freedom.

Union Gospel Mission, based in Seattle, declined to hire an applicant because he was engaged in a same-sex romantic relationship, which conflicts with biblical doctrine. The man then filed a lawsuit, and the Washington Supreme Court ruled against the mission!

Alliance Defending Freedom is now representing Union Gospel Mission and has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to consider the case. ADF Legal Counsel Jake Warner had this to say:

"In our view, religious organizations have the right to hire those who share their beliefs without being punished by the government. In fact, six federal appellate courts have already recognized this principle. But the Washington state Supreme Court stands alone against this principle, and it's important enough that we believe that the Supreme Court needs to clarify that the First Amendment protects the right of religious organizations to decide who gets to share their religious message to the public."

A government that can restrict someone else's constitutional right to religious freedom can limit yours as well! Please pray that the high court would take this case and uphold religious liberty for all Americans.

A New Day Dawns in Washington

On the first day of the Trump-Vance administration, President Trump issued hundreds of executive orders. One asserted that there are only two sexes, male and female. In doing so, the president was merely repeating what the Bible tells us in Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (ESV).
