Dr. James Dobson Congratulates Gov. Kemp, U.S. Rep. Jody Hice for the Passage of Georgia's Historic Heartbeat Bill

"What makes Georgia's heartbeat bill historic and so important to the wider pro-life fight, is that it acknowledges both biblical truth and natural rights by enshrining into law the inherent humanity of an unborn child."
– James Dobson, Ph.D.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed that state's version of the heartbeat bill, a sweeping pro-life legislation historic in its scope and legal language. On behalf of the James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI), Dr. James Dobson issues the following statement applauding the efforts of Georgia lawmakers:

"I want to offer our most heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the lawmakers of Georgia, who in defiance of the abortion industry and the mainstream media, stayed true to their convictions and the people of Georgia who elected them to office, by signing into law one of the nation's most sweeping pieces of pro-life legislation. What makes Georgia's heartbeat bill historic and so important to the wider pro-life fight, is that it acknowledges both biblical truth and natural rights by enshrining into law the inherent humanity of an unborn child. In the words of U.S. Rep. Jody Hice of Georgia who recently sat down with Family Talk to discuss this critical distinction, 'The bill does not refer to a fetus...it's a baby, it's a person, it's a child. That personhood aspect of the Georgia heartbeat bill, I believe, is the key element that will eventually make it to the U.S. Supreme Court, and hopefully carry with it the potential of overturning
Roe v. Wade.'

"We at JDFI say yes and amen to Rep. Hice's words. We pray this bill will have a profound impact not only in Georgia, but also throughout the entire country by overturning
Roe v. Wade once and for all. The frontlines of this battle are drawn at the state level. There are six other states that have stepped up to sign heartbeat bills, most recently Ohio. We stand ready to help the citizens of each and every state to change their laws until they reflect the biblical truth that every person, born or preborn, is a child of God and worthy of our protection. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness will not be denied to anyone."

Giving Thanks to God

As we give thanks this week to God we should remember this: without His provision and protection, our nation is doomed. America’s increasing secularization represents a mortal threat. Ironically, we can even see our drifting from God in the annual Presidential Thanksgiving Proclamations issued throughout our nation’s history.

Trump and The Reformation of America's Government

We do have one warning! Christians must not conclude that their work is done. The battle to save and preserve our country as “one nation under God” will continue to rage. We urge you to pray for the safety of President-elect Trump and his team. We also implore pastors and church leaders to boldly lead their flocks into the public square and stand firm for faith, family, and freedom.
