Speaking to the wives; how do you view sex? Is it a chore? A burden? Do you enjoy sex? Do you look forward to having sex with your husband? Do you think it's only for him and not for you? Have your thoughts changed about sex since you were first married?
Well, it's sad to say, but the world and even the church can teach wives the wrong things concerning sex. Let's start with the world. Whether it be in movies, media, or even in the news, it seems that sex has one target: men! We are to look and act sexy to appeal to men so they can have their sexual desires met.
From my vantage point, men are seen as mindless sexual creatures controlled by their lust. The world can teach women that men need sex, and we just have to provide it.
But even in the church, we can be taught the wrong things concerning sex. I have heard older women teach the younger women that it's for them and we need to meet their needs.
Women can be duped into thinking that sex has nothing to do with them and everything to do with their husbands. I'm here to tell you that God has a design for sex and it's not what the world, or even sometimes what the church teaches. Sex designed by God is a reward and blessing to both the man and the woman. Listen to the Words of the living God concerning sex:
"Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:9
"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine;" Song of Solomon 1:2
"Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love" Proverbs 5:18-19
Ladies, do you feel like you're in a rut when it comes to sex with your husband? I've been there. We had six kids in nine short years, so I know all too well how life can change sex and marriage. But it's the same God that says children are a blessing as well as marriage.
Children and the cares of life are not meant to extinguish the flame in your marriage. Instead, your marriage can become more passionate, and that flame can soon be a blazing fire! I honestly feel more in love and dare I say 'sexy' the more I experience life with my husband. Children can bring you closer. A global pandemic can bring you closer. Even aging can bring you closer.
Sex is for women too! We need it as much as our husbands. Sex the way God designed it is enjoyable, fun, relieves stress, draws a marriage closer, and helps with emotional intimacy. It helps with the hard days you had with the kids as well as the good days. Biblical marital sex also helps you feel better and have a more enjoyable day.
God says the love between a husband and wife is a reward in this life. Marriage is an earthly reward. So please ladies, enjoy it to the fullest! Be blessed! It's God's design!
