Birth certificates that limit the designation of sex to “male” or “female” are too restrictive and intolerant. At least, that seems to be the view of the Massachusetts’ legislature.

The state senate has unanimously passed a bill that would allow residents to alter their birth certificates by designating their gender as a nonbinary “X.” The legislation would also allow Massachusetts’ residents to designate “X,” “M,” or “F” on driver’s licenses and state IDs.

Sen. Jo Comerford (D) said the bill is “about advancing basic human dignity, supporting human rights, and protecting everyone’s right to their own self-identity.” In reality, this bill is about self-deception and the denial of our God-given sexuality.
