Adolescence Is an Age of Conformity
The pressure to follow the whims of the group (called the “herd instinct”) is never so great as during the adolescent years. This drive may be all-consuming to a teenager when any deviation from the “in” behavior is a serious breach of etiquette. And there is tyranny in this pressure.
