October 2023 Newsletter: Biblical Manhood Under Attack
All is not well with men today. Men are battling problems of many, many kinds. In fact, as I show in my brand-new book "The War on Men," men are struggling today in almost every area. Educationally, for every one woman who drops out of college, seven men drop out. Economically, men have left the workforce in almost unprecedented numbers; the current employment rate of men in prime working years mirrors that of the Great Depression.
It only takes a few moments consuming today's media to determine that the world is at war with manhood. At the core of this epic battle is intense combat that is ripping apart our families. The casualties are threefold: our children are left fatherless, our women have to go it alone, and men have lost their sense of identity and greater purpose.
I wish it were possible for me to emphasize just how critical this masculine understanding is to family stability. Sociologist George Gilder said it best in his excellent book Sexual Suicide. He makes it clear that single men (as a class) are often a threat to society. Until they accept responsibility for families, their sexual aggression is largely unbridled and potentially destructive.
To be honest, many of you husbands and fathers have been thinking about something else. Your wives have been busy attending seminars and reading family literature and studying the Bible, but they can't even get you to enter a discussion about what they've learned. You've been intoxicated with your work and the ego support it provides.
According to Dr. Steve Farrar, America is in a moral free-fall. We are living off the spiritual capital of the past, but it's now coming to a halt. On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, Dr. Farrar says our country is in need of true revival. Much like the spiritual awakenings of the past, we need three things. An economic collapse to push us toward God, an outpouring of prayer, and the leadership of Christian men. Second Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.”
America has a leadership crisis. On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, Dr. Steve Farrar challenges men to understand three things that are true about our times. First, our Christian foundations are being destroyed. Second, biblical Truth has been rejected. And third, our country is overdue for God’s judgment. Dr. Farrar, the founder of Men’s Leadership Ministries, also stresses the need for genuine godly leadership in society today, and calls upon fathers to guide their children through the cultural fog.
Let's look more closely at what constitutes "a good family man" in today's world. To put that in perspective, it might be helpful to examine four traditional roles that men have played at home.
Who says men can’t get pregnant? Not Apple. The global technology company has released the beta version of its next iOS update which features several new emojis, including both a “pregnant man” and a “pregnant person.”
Prisons just became less safe for women.
