Saving Aziz: How the Mission to Help One Became a Calling to Rescue Thousands

According to American warrior and retired serviceman, Chad Robichaux, “When God burdens our hearts to help His people, you don’t have a choice, you have to be obedient to what God is calling you to do!” On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tim Clinton interviews Chad, a proud former Marine, and his Afghan interpreter, Aziz, to discuss the unique calling the Lord placed in both of their lives. In 2021, when the U.S. government announced that their military would be withdrawing from Afghanistan, Chad knew that he had to return and rescue Aziz and his family. What Chad did not know at that time was that the mission to save Aziz was going to be so much bigger than anything he could have imagined.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a spiritual wound. That’s the contention of Chad Robichaux (Row-ba-show), a retired U.S. Marine who served eight tours of duty in Afghanistan. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Chad explains that his crippling panic attacks were God-sent, a way for his body to cope with trauma. Today, he counsels people with PTSD to recognize that medication should be a pitstop on the road to recovery, not the destination. The antidote is the peace of God through a relationship with Christ and solid biblical counseling which does not assign blame.

After eight tours of duty in Afghanistan, Chad Robichaux (Row-ba-show) had seen it all. From the brutality of the Taliban to witnessing the deaths of 15 fellow soldiers, he began to suffer from debilitating panic attacks. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Chad says, “Imagine you’re drowning in a swimming pool and handcuffed to the bottom. How desperate would you feel to get one breath of air?” That was his level of panic 24/7. When he returned to America, his extreme PTSD led to a suicide attempt in his bedroom closet. Thankfully, Chad trusted Christ as his Savior and today, he serves active duty, military veteran and first responder communities with faith based trauma and resiliency programs.
