JDFI made a substantial commitment this year to help ensure Christians had the information they needed on each of these issues so they could be discerning, educated voters. We also wanted to increase the number of Christ-followers who voted. We have been deeply troubled that Christian involvement in elections has lagged behind the participation rates of other demographic groups.
This date, October 7, 2024, marks the one-year anniversary of the horrific attacks against the nation of Israel by the Hamas terrorist organization. Today on Family Talk, Gary Bauer and the Hon. Michele Bachmann, former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, discuss this brutal assault and remind us that while life goes on for us in America, the war is raging on for the Israeli people. Michele shares God’s prophetic Word and how it is playing out within our world right now! Joel 3:2 says, “I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.” It comes down to this question, “Will we continue to support Israel, or not?”
JDFI supports Israel and strongly opposes antisemitism of every kind. Unlike much of Europe, a majority of adult Americans are still pro-Israel. But among younger Americans, including Christians, the support is waning.

The two discuss the historical importance of the National Jewish Day of Mourning. In Hebrew, the Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar (August 12-13, 2024). On this day, Jews deprive themselves of nearly all human comforts and devote themselves to prayer and fasting. The holiday is the culmination of the Three Weeks, a period during which the Jewish people mark the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 486 BC and the Roman Empire in 70 AD. George Washington University, just blocks from the White House, has been the scene of some of the most hateful anti-Semitism sweeping America's campuses. Over a recent weekend, the iconic statue of our nation's first president was draped in a Palestinian flag. If Washington were here with us today, I have no doubt he would throw off that foreign flag and stand with the embattled Jewish students on the campus.
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom, Gary Bauer begins the podcast by addressing the antisemitic chaos on college campuses nationwide. We see an ancient hatred at America's finest institutions of higher learning. This is a dark evil that Christians must call out as sin, and reject whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head. Despite these college students shouting "death to Israel and death to America," not all is gloom and doom with America's youth. Bauer shares the story of 17-year-old Cameron Blasek, a Christ-follower who went toe-to-toe with his high school administrators who objected to Blasek flying the American flag from the bed of his truck in the school parking lot.
American Jewish students must be wondering if some warped time machine has transported them from modern America back to pre-war Germany. In 1930's Germany, as Nazism began to infect the populace, Jews increasingly lived in fear. Even German universities became hotbeds of raw hatred against Jews, further proving that "education" is no antidote for evil—only good can overcome evil.

Rose, speaking from Israel, describes how recent statements from President Joe Biden, where he equated the fight against antisemitism with the war against Hamas, were received by Israelis. Rose says people in Israel found the President's remarks to be utterly dumbfounding and incredibly disappointing.
