Bauer says that these three exemplary individuals came to the same figurative crossroad, serve Caesar—or following the demands of Caesar—or serve Jesus Christ. Bauer warns that it is likely that one day, perhaps soon, many Christians will find themselves in a position at work, school, or even their place of worship, where they will face a choice to either cave to the authoritarian State or lift high the cross of Christ.
