Moms in Prayer – Part 2

If the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective, how much more potent are the prayers of moms who gather to intercede on behalf of their children? On today’s edition of Family Talk, Fern Nichols and Sally Burke, the founder and president of Moms in Prayer International, continue sharing about their ministry, and urge mothers to walk through the four steps of prayer: praise, silent confession, thanksgiving, and intercession. Matthew 18:20 declares, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

In 1984, Fern Nichols was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. Realizing that the spiritual warfare would be intense, she asked another mother to pray with her for their kids' protection. That was the humble beginning of Moms in Prayer International, a ministry which now has groups in all 50 states and 140 countries worldwide. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Fern compares the efforts of the four friends in the book of Mark, chapter two, who opened a hole in the roof to get a paralyzed man to Jesus. With the heart behind Moms in Prayer, mothers have a similar desperation and determination to bring their children before Christ in prayer.

Celebrating the Green Family and the 50th Anniversary of Hobby Lobby – Part 1

In 1970, David and Barbara Green took a $600 loan to make miniature picture frames to sell out of their home. Two years later, they opened their first store: Hobby Lobby. Today, Hobby Lobby has nearly one thousand stores and over forty thousand employees across the United States. On today’s edition of Family Talk, David Green and his son, Steve Green, explain how they see retail as an avenue for ministry. David also expounds upon his conviction to give away large sums of Hobby Lobby’s profit, keep the stores closed on Sundays, and place Christ-centered, full-page newspaper ads on Christmas and Easter. Steve, who became president of Hobby Lobby in 2004, affirms God’s call on the Green family to be wise stewards and bold evangelists in all of their endeavors.

Through My Father’s Eyes: The Legacy of Billy Graham

Through his worldwide ministry, the late Reverend Billy Graham led millions to a meaningful relationship with Jesus. Because of this, he changed the culture forever. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and Billy’s son, the Reverend Franklin Graham, reflect on the life and legacy of Christianity’s most influential evangelist. After Billy went home to be with the Lord in 2018, Franklin was inspired to write about his father’s legacy and his personal relationship with the man he called “Daddy,” in his memoir, “Through My Father’s Eyes.” Even though Franklin strayed as a young man, he came to know Christ at age 22. When he shared the good news, his father said, “Your mother and I have been praying for this day for a long time!” You’ll hear about Billy Graham’s own conversion, his famed Los Angeles tent revival, and the Yankee Stadium crusade that drew over 100,000 people.

When Kansas State All-American offensive lineman Dalton Risner was asked by a prospective NFL team what his priorities would be as a professional football player, he responded, "Jesus Christ, family, and football," in that order. On today's edition of Family Talk, the star athlete, who has found a home with the Denver Broncos, says that he puts his faith over fear. He even has some of his favorite Bible verses tattooed on his arms, including Psalm 37:5, which says, "Commit your way to the Lord." Risner's desire is to use the NFL platform to spread God's Word through love and kindness.

He just happens to do it through music and storytelling.
