According to Mark Hancock, the CEO of Trail Life USA, we are outsourcing so much within our society, but one thing we cannot outsource is being a dad! Today on Family Talk, Gary Bauer talks with Mark about his new devotional entitled, Trail Ready: 101 Devotions for Dads with Boys. Gary and Mark discuss the biblical definition of fatherhood, and the destructive societal pitfalls we have been experiencing due to diminishing the integral role that dads play in raising boys. Instead of shaming fathers for what they have not done, we need to remind them of who God created them to be.

The notion of a "perfect mom" is not only an impossible stereotype, it's a tragic impediment to the confidence and well-being of many mothers today. On this edition of Family Talk, Christian comedian Sally Baucke (pronounced Bowe-key) shares hilarious personal anecdotes as she addresses the emotional strain that unrealistic expectations have on mothers. She encourages them to fully embrace the craziness of child rearing and to remember that their godly calling is to "mold" their kids according to trustworthy biblical principles.
A single parent focused on nurturing his or her child can have a loving, lasting impact.
Learn when to "rescue" your kids and when to let them suffer the consequences of their actions.
Question: Dr. Dobson, I worry so much about my children and wonder if I'm raising them wisely. Every few days my husband and I encounter a problem we don't know how to handle. Is it common for parents to feel this way?
It doesn't take a lot to get the attention of your child. Find out how in today's commentary.
It’s hard to remember a time when we didn’t have to worry about what our children were being subjected to in schools, or what they might see as they are browsing the Internet. On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson speaks with author Rebecca Hagelin as they discuss the daily battle parents face in protecting the innocence of their children. We must wake up and stop the busyness of life. Nothing shows our kids that we love them more than taking time to give them boundaries based on God’s Truth.
Question: Dr. Dobson, how much self-control and Christian responsibility can we expect of a child? For example, my five-year-old daughter has a rather passive personality, and she is constantly being hit, kicked and pinched by other children in the neighborhood. I have taught her not to fight back, showing her the words of Jesus in the Bible. Still, it hurts me to see her beaten—sometimes by children much smaller than she is. What do you suggest?
