Jesus Followers – Part 1

If Christian parents want to ensure that their children walk in the ways of the Lord, it’s not enough to just take them to church. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Anne Graham Lotz and her daughter, Rachel-Ruth Lotz Wright, urge believing parents to be intentional about sharing Christ with their children. The co-authors of Jesus Followers explain that the key to discipling your kids is to model a vibrant relationship with Christ. When they see you in regular prayer and Bible study, that’s when Christianity becomes contagious. And that’s what will inspire the next generation to enthusiastically grasp the baton of faith and finish their own race well.

Going Home for Christmas

Isaiah 9:6 says, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given.” During the busy Christmas season, it is always a joy to be able to go home and spend time with loved ones while celebrating the birth of our Savior. But did you know that in 1958, Dr. James Dobson almost missed his chance to go home for Christmas and survived a harrowing experience while serving in the National Guard? On today’s edition of Family Talk, Roger Marsh shares Dr. Dobson’s December newsletter which includes a heartfelt and almost unbelievable story of how he was able to make it home for Christmas in the midst of a blizzard.

A Conversation with the Pro-Life Doc – Part 3

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. William Lile shares that in the fight against abortion, the battle for life is not just for God’s pre-born, but for the heart and soul of this nation. The “pro-life doc” points out that now is the time to be preparing the church and pro-life organizations for what’s to come, given that Roe v. Wade was overturned. He points to the irony that Congress penalizes those who disturb the freshly laid eggs of endangered sea turtles on the beach with a $100,000 fine, while a woman can terminate her pregnancy in any trimester with no legal repercussions. Dr. Lile states that every Christian, like the biblical Esther, must be prepared to become a voice for the voiceless “for such a time as this.”

Broken and Beautiful: Let God Turn Your Mess into a Masterpiece – Part 2

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson and his guest, Christine Soule, continue discussing her life and her book, Broken and Beautiful. One Scripture that has been a platform for Christine’s life is Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Indeed, the Lord has used her pain and brokenness to bring hope and healing to women and children who have walked a similar path. Christine urges believers to welcome those curious souls who are in pain and walk into the church but who do not look like them, because they are often searching for a place to belong.

Oneness Embraced

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Tony Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, proclaims that God is not colorblind. Nor is He blinded by color. The Lord does not want the racial distinctives that He created to be the ultimate source of our identity. The answer to today’s racial division? The church can model biblical reconciliation and unity through service, not seminars or soundbites. Each of us must recognize that everyone is created in God’s image.

The Case for Heaven – Part 2

By his own admission, Lee Strobel was once a narcissistic, drunken, self-absorbed atheist. When his wife, Leslie, became a believer, he wanted a divorce. After two years of trying to disprove Christianity, the Chicago Tribune newspaper reporter was overwhelmed by the avalanche of evidence, and ultimately gave his life to the Lord. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Strobel continues discussing his new book and film, The Case for Heaven, which takes a look at evidence of the afterlife and answers poignant questions concerning what happens when we leave this life. After having almost died, himself, 10 years ago, Strobel interviewed one of his heroes, evangelist Luis Palau, who was dying of stage four cancer at the time. Palau offered invaluable advice, "No one will ever regret being courageous for Christ!"

The Case for Heaven – Part 1

On today’s Family Talk, Christian apologist and scholar Lee Strobel discusses his new book and film, The Case for Heaven. In his conversation with Dr. Tim Clinton, Lee makes a strong argument for Heaven as a very real and viable place, and points to corroborated near-death experiences from several individuals, including a woman named Maria, who died of a heart attack. She described how her spirit separated from her body, which is consistent with God’s Word. Through Maria’s and other first-hand testimonials, Strobel offers a consistent narrative of hope and promise.

God’s Providence: What If Jesus Had Never Been Born – Part 2

According to Dr. Jerry Newcombe, so much of what is good about America can be traced back to the Bible. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the executive director of the Providence Forum concludes that there’s not a square mile on planet earth where Jesus has not made a positive difference. From Christian hospitals, orphanages, and schools to Christianity’s contribution to civil liberties, science, and medicine, this world would not be what it is without the Lord’s impact. Colossians 1:16-17 declares, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
