How to Reach School Children With the Bible

On June 25, 1962, the Supreme Court ruled that school sponsored prayer was unconstitutional. But did you know that Christians still have the ability to bring biblical teaching and the gospel to school-aged kids during the school day? On today’s edition of Family Talk, Kori Pennypacker, the CEO of Bible2School, shares the mission behind her program and explains how concerned Christians and parents can aid in bringing the Bible to children in their communities. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Is Atheism Dead? Part 2

In 1966, Time Magazine featured a cover story asking the question, "Is God Dead?" On today's edition of Family Talk, Christian talk show host Eric Metaxas mirrors that provocative cover with a question of his own: "Is Atheism Dead?" His new book of the same name explains that science makes the case for God's existence. For example, Dr. Stephen Collins, an archeologist, discovered the biblical Sodom complete with five feet of ash, melted bits of brick, and charred human bone. Scientifically, it could not have been caused by a fire or a volcano. The evidence points to the sobering truth of the Lord's judgment in Genesis 19.

Is Atheism Dead? Part 1

On today's edition of Family Talk, Christian radio host Eric Metaxas, author of Is Atheism Dead?, declares that science makes the case for God in this fine-tuned universe. For example, did you know that Jupiter, which is 400 million miles away from earth, enables us to live? This gas giant is so massive and has such a strong gravitational pull that it attracts the asteroids, meteorites, and comets that would otherwise bombard earth and destroy all forms of life.

Mysteries of the Messiah – Part 1

In Matthew 13:52, Jesus said, "Every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of Heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." Sadly, many Christians fail to grasp the Old Testament foreshadowing of Christ. On today's edition of Family Talk, Rabbi Jason Sobel, author of Mysteries of the Messiah, invites believers to stop settling for just half of our spiritual inheritance, because everything in the Old Testament ultimately points to Jesus.

Rescued by the Hand of God

In 1993, missionaries Dave and Barb Anderson were flying to Alaska after evangelizing in a remote region in the Russian far east, when their small aircraft suddenly lost power and crashed into the Bering Sea. Despite hitting the water at 90 miles per hour, the plane remained intact, allowing everyone on board to escape. Within 45 seconds, it sank, leaving the survivors in 36-degree cold water with 5-foot-high swells. On today's edition of Family Talk, the couple recounts the dramatic story of surviving their plane crash. Providentially, the team was spotted and helicopters were sent. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Jesus rescued them.

The Bible Recap: Falling in Love with God’s Word

Despite an early introduction to Christianity, Tara-Leigh Cobble confesses that she wasted years passing through life on the second-hand information about the Bible she'd gleaned from others. The Chosen: A TV Series for Such a Time as This

When it comes to most dramatizations about Jesus, Christian filmmaker Dallas Jenkins believes that our Messiah seems overly formal and emotionally distant. On today's edition of Family Talk, he explains that the key to the successful production of The Chosen series is that Jesus is warm, engaging, and unvarnished. He's someone you would want to follow! The writers imagine culturally accurate backstories to characters which make the Biblical narratives come alive. No wonder The Chosen has been viewed by nearly 200 million people in 50 languages!

Being Jesus to Your Neighbors – Part 2

If Jesus lived in your house, how would He bring your neighbors into the Kingdom of God? That's a question posed by Lee Strobel, atheist-turned-Christian author of the best-selling The Case for Christ. First, Strobel assures that Jesus wouldn't only share His faith, He would show His faith. Acts of service can help soften our neighbors' hearts to the gospel. Secondly, there would be an alignment between Christ's beliefs and His behavior. Likewise, your creed and your character must be consistent so that your neighbors only see integrity.

Being Jesus to Your Neighbors – Part 1

Lee Strobel, author of the best-selling The Case for Christ, describes several key considerations to keep in mind when sharing the gospel. Before Jesus spoke to His neighbors about their Heavenly Father, He would first lift them up in prayer. Therefore, prayer should be at the foundation of our efforts. Jesus was also always available for skeptics to ask tough questions about the faith. We should be equally open and welcoming to those who doubt.
