Through the Dobson Policy & Culture Center, we focus on issues related to righteousness in the culture, such as the sanctity of human life, the God-ordained institution of marriage, parental rights, freedom of religion, and other liberties guaranteed in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
A significant exchange of words occurred a few days ago between First Lady Jill Biden and a young American child. Children were at the White House on the occasion of the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign. Mrs. Biden greeted the children with a shout of “Happy Holidays!” One courageous child loudly responded, “Happy Christmas!”
Children need much attention, love, fun, discipleship, direction, kindness, forgiveness, and help—specifically from a dad and mom. God did not give youngsters an iPad; He gave them parents. The heavenly Father did not sign kids up to learn life from TikTok; He assigned fathers and mothers as teachers and protectors (Genesis 2:24-25; Proverbs 22:6).
JDFI made a substantial commitment this year to help ensure Christians had the information they needed on each of these issues so they could be discerning, educated voters. We also wanted to increase the number of Christ-followers who voted. We have been deeply troubled that Christian involvement in elections has lagged behind the participation rates of other demographic groups.
Many Christians felt (understandably) as if they had lost the America they had always known. Fast forward to late 2024. The ground beneath our feet is shifting. Walmart’s woke rollback represents a stunning repudiation of the ideology. After all, the vendor is no mom-and-pop shop undertaking transformation; Walmart is the world’s largest retailer, renouncing its compromised policies.
We are about halfway through the transition period between the outgoing Biden-Harris administration and the incoming Trump-Vance team. Every day, President-elect Trump has been announcing appointments to key positions in his second administration. Those “personnel” will often determine policy.
Of course, we all know hardships and have days when giving thanks to God feels difficult. In the psalm quoted above, David praises the Lord’s lavish kindness. But he goes on to lament that “a band of ruthless men” (v. 14) hunts him to kill him. That’s not the group you invite to eat turkey with you on Thanksgiving Day!

As we give thanks this week to God we should remember this: without His provision and protection, our nation is doomed. America’s increasing secularization represents a mortal threat. Ironically, we can even see our drifting from God in the annual Presidential Thanksgiving Proclamations issued throughout our nation’s history.
Johnson’s “unequivocally clear” declaration is unequivocally correct and fits most Americans’ stance. Our nation’s majority does not support men in women’s spaces. Why? In God’s restraining grace, many people live according to creational reality, not in opposition to it.
We do have one warning! Christians must not conclude that their work is done. The battle to save and preserve our country as “one nation under God” will continue to rage. We urge you to pray for the safety of President-elect Trump and his team. We also implore pastors and church leaders to boldly lead their flocks into the public square and stand firm for faith, family, and freedom.
